The Village Lodge
The Village Lodge is situated in spacious gardens in the centre of Storms River Village on the edge of the Tsitsikamma Forest, just a short drive from the Tsitsikamma National Park at Storms River Mouth. This 3 star graded guest lodge offers comfortable double and family rooms on a bed and breakfast basis; a large covered barbeque area is also available for guest use. All rooms are equipped with en suites bathrooms (shower), DSTV select, tea and coffee facilities and external door into the garden. Free Wi-Fi is available for guest use. The lodge is centrally situated and close to most of the local adventure activities, and several good restaurants.
We are unashamedly ‘country-style’ with extensive use of wood, gleaming brass fittings, plus a deliberate touch of yesteryear in our bathroom fittings and in the lodge kitchen. Expect no modern chrome and glass in our decor but a warm and comforting feeling of cosiness, which is echoed in the personal welcome you will receive on arrival.
Tsisikamma National Park and its surrounds is known as ‘The Garden of the Garden Route’. Storms River Village is situated at the foot of Storms River Peak and on the edge of the Tsitsikamma Forest. The area abounds with hiking, walking and cycling trails both within and outside the National Park and there are a number of adventure activities nearby which include Tree Canopy Tours, Zip-lining, Segway Tours, mountain bike hire and the world’s highest single span bungy jump. The forest has an abundance of bird life, small game species and primates. Storms River Mouth, within the National Park boasts a spectacular and dramatic coast line and is home to the world famous Otter Trail, a five day hiking trail which is arguably the most challenging trail in Southern Africa; The Village Lodge is a favorite accommodation facility for hikers both before and after the trail. The hanging bridge across the river mouth is reached via a 30 minute board walk and boat trips up the river gorge are available when weather permits. The Waterfall Trail is available to day hikers and is the first stretch of the Otter Trail along the coast, a return trip of about 3 hours.
