Mosaic Private Sanctuary

Description of accommodation:

Hidden amongst a grove of ancient milkwoods, discover a place where time stands still. A place for contemplation and adventure. Tucked away near picturesque Stanford, Mosaic is the Cape’s answer to the luxury African sanctuary lodge. Lose yourself somewhere between ocean, lagoon and the glistening Overberg mountains. Like its name suggests, this 1,000-hectare property offers the fortunate few a truly multifaceted guest experience. After a spot of bird watching from the seclusion of your verandah, head down the board-walk for a hearty breakfast in the intimate dining room. Amongst the continental options, expect freshly baked muffins, farm butter, sumptuous fruit platters and home-made jams. Hot fare is prepared to order and, as with all meals, is made with love – built around fresh, seasonal and regionally sourced ingredients.

The five units are generously proportioned under high thatch roofs and each boasts its own private slice of Mosaic’s breathtaking views. Foldaway glass doors allow guests to take full advantage day and night. Beds are soft and comfortable and baths are large enough to accommodate two as are the outdoor showers. We’d recommend ordering a bottle of local wine to sip in the privacy of your suite too…best served under the glorious expanse of the star-filled South African sky.

Description of surroundings:

Daytime activities here vary from kayaking and quad biking for the more active to relaxing lagoon cruises and sundowners along the secluded 16km Walker Bay Beach coastline adjacent to Mosaic. You may also be fortunate enough to spot an endangered caracal on your way down to the historical and beautifully restored “Spookhuis”. Stories are often shared back at the lapa where the heated pool offers another vantage from which to survey the lagoon and keep an eye on the prolific local bird population. Return to your suite in the evening down boardwalks.
