Bayala Private Safari lodge

Bayala Private Safari Lodges

A 3 star accommodation, consisting of two separate camps within a short 5 minute drive from each other. Newly renovated Safari Lodge and Founders Lodge: each have 24 comfortable thatch-roof rooms decorated with neutral bushveld colours throughout.

Founders Lodge boasts a beautiful and restful lounge, a rustic bar and relaxed, informal dining inside or outside, where our chefs produce a line up of dining experiences, from a traditional ‘braai under the stars to delicious hot and cold full English breakfasts and lunches served in the Safari Lodge or on the verandah next to the pool.

We pride ourselves on going ‘the extra mile’ and creating an African experience, whether it’s for a romantic bush wedding,  a conference or any special occasion.

Decor is refreshingly simple, appealing and serene. The rooms have en-suite bathrooms with large walk-in showers, and are equipped with air-conditioning, quality linens, hot beverage facilities and hairdryers.

Superior rooms are only available at Founder’s Lodge and offer a patio with views out to the bush within secured fencing. Family suites offer inter-leading rooms to accommodate families with children.

BAYALA meaning “never give in or give up” originally a cattle farming enterprise with hunting concession, is under new ownership and in the process of balancing the ecological system of the environment.

Bayala Private Safari Lodges will be integrated into the Munyawana Conservancy by dropping fences within 2017 thus offering game viewing including the Big 5 (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros) on the neighbouring Munyawana Conservancy. In the last 25 years the Munyawana Conservancy has expanded their green frontier enabling free roaming of wild animals and focusing on conservation of flora and fauna.

< Bayala is centrally situated within easy access to Lake St Lucia, Sodwana Bay, Hluhluwe / Imfolozi / Mkuze Game Reserve as well as Bayete Zulu Elephant Sanctuary/Interaction, Ndumu Game Reserve and Kozi Bay. Many species of animals occur within this haven. The area has rich diversity and an abundance of bird life. Bayala is an accredited member of The Big 5 Municipality, the Tourism Grading Council, Elephant Coast Tourism and Hluhluwe Big 5 CTO. Bayala Private Safari Lodges is a non Malaria area. Meals are casual celebrations of South Africa’s favourite fire-cooked feasts: the braai and the potjie. For variety of experience, dinners are enjoyed in the stylishly casual atmosphere of the lodge, or around the fireside in the boma where the stars blink in the deep indigo night skies of Zululand.

We would love to arrange a private bush dinner or bush breakfast for your special occasion. Please enquire directly for prices.

The morning game drive unfolds the miracle of daybreak in the wilderness. Depart into the approaching dawn on a 4×4 safari vehicle with your guide. Watch the sunrise paint its glory across the vast plains, and see the wild world emerge fresh and new. Birds bring greetings, herds gather to drink at watering holes, and predators show themselves before taking shelter against the heat of day. Tracks, trails, middens and carcasses hint at the escapades of the night, and the ongoing rhythm of life in the wilderness unfurls.

The afternoon game drive departs when the heat of day begins to subside, and pauses to toast the sunset. After nightfall your safari hosts will track the impressive nocturnal animals that every safari-goer hopes to see. Expectancy mounts as your guide and tracker put their skills and acuity to good use. Add a measure of luck, and guests can look forward to sightings of Africa’s most legendary creatures.
