Koro Lodge: ('Open Vistas' in the San Language) is a farmhouse in the heart of the reserve that has been renovated and transformed into a private villa with stunning views. This privately catered for family experience offers a wilderness adventure for families and groups of friends, where children are welcome all-year round.

FACILITIES
• The Homestead comprises 2 lounge areas with fireplaces: one with a satellite flat screen TV, an extensive book and DVD library, complimentary wireless and computer station with internet access, a bar, walk-in wine cellar, heated swimming pool and fitness centre.
• The Heritage Centre where guests may view ancient Bushman artefacts such as jewellery, bags, dolls and dancing sticks as well as photographs that depict their nomadic existence and day-to-day life experiences. The guides and resident archaeologist also hold specialist talks and discussions in the Heritage Centre, with topics including all aspects of the reserve, as well as insight into the Cederberg Wilderness Area in general. · The Fitness Centre for guests who enjoy a daily workout, equipped with a spinning cycle, bar and weights, yoga mats, pilates balls, mirrors, bottled water and towels.
• A Medicinal Herb Garden, situated near the Heritage Centre, grows plants and herbs that the San people used as remedies to cure all sorts of ailments and illnesses.
• 3 Outdoor infinity-edge swimming pools grace the gardens, so that guests are never more than a few paces from a refreshing swim. · A River Boma perfect for sundowners or when darkness falls, for stargazing with after dinner drinks. · The Trading Post a gift shop offering a unique variety of specially hand selected items from Southern Africa’s finest artists and artisans. · Flower and herb garden offering a magnificent and unique variety of colours and scents. · Fruit and vegetable garden whereby all produce is grown by organic principals and used in the preparation of our Contemporary Cape cuisine. OTHER OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES There are no large predators at Bushmans Kloof and guests are encouraged to explore the great outdoors and interact with nature as they please. Bushmans Kloof is malaria-free.

DIRECTIONS TO BUSHMANS KLOOF
(270km from Cape Town – allow two and a half–three hours driving time)

Depart Cape Town via the N1.
Before Century City / Ratanga Junction, take the N7 off-ramp towards Malmesbury.
Continue past Malmesbury, towards Moorreesburg, Piketburg and Citrusdal to enter the Olifants River Valley (route takes approximately 2 hours).We recommend that you stop at Kardoesie (Farm Style Restaurant) for a light lunch just    outside of Citrusdal on your right hand side.
Pass the Clanwilliam Dam (located on the right hand side of the road) and turn right onto the R364 to Lamberts Bay / Clanwilliam.
At the T-Junction, turn right to Clanwilliam.
When entering the town, a petrol station is located on the left hand side of road. NB: Fill up if petrol is required, there is  no mobile reception after this point.
From Clanwilliam to the lodge gate is approximately 40km. Continue straight on the R364 towards Wupperthal and Calvinia and cross a bridge – follow this tarred road for approximately 25km, past ‘Louis Leipoldt’s Grave’ and over the Pakhuis Pass.
Cross a low bridge over the Brandewyns River.
Continue past a sign on the left hand side to ‘Traveller’s Rest’.
After travelling for 800m, the Bushmans Kloof gate will be on your right hand side.
Turn right at the Bushmans Kloof gate (recommended speed in the reserve – 40km per hour).
Continue straight, crossing a small bridge below the dam wall and follow the signs to the lodge.
Continue towards the lodge and on arrival please park your car next to the big Blue Gum trees and the building marked ‘Reception’.
We would like to draw your attention to the fact that our gate closes at 17h00 daily.
With advance notice we can make alternative arrangements.
 
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NO MOBILE PHONE RECEPTION BETWEEN CLANWILLIAM AND THE LODGE.

• All year: Casual dress, comfortable shoes and bring a camera and binoculars
• Summer: We recommend hats, swimwear, sun block and sunglasses
• Winter: Warm clothing is required. We suggest scarves, gloves, hats and warm jackets for the evening nature drives WHEELCHAIR ACCESS / FRAIL CARE Bushmans Kloof is located in a wilderness area. The terrain is rocky and uneven and has steps in and around the lodge. It is therefore more suitable to active, fully-mobile guests.
