With an established team of friendly staff and just 8 individually designed suites, we offer a highly personalised stay. The lodge traces its origins back to 1964 when the Northern Tuli Game Reserve was created, and as such it is unconventional in design and layout and has a charming home-from-home feel.

All our suites have double or twin beds, en-suite bathrooms with bath and/or shower, indoor and outdoor sitting areas, air conditioning and tea/coffee making facilities. We have two grades of suites – which we call 4 and 5 "ele" - with our "5 ele" suites being the more luxurious, spacious and private. The 5 ele suites are all slightly different in size, layout and position in the lodge but all provide the same quality and facilities.

Additional activities at Tuli Safari Lodge

In addition to the activities which are included in your stay, there are many other things that you may wish to do whilst at Tuli. Please note there is an additional charge for some of these activities - please contact us for more info.

Additional bush walks – two guided game activities per day are included in your stay, but subject to availability we can arrange additional guided walks for you. Bush walks give a real opportunity to experience Africa at ground level, taking in the sounds and smells of the bush as well as the sights. The slower pace also enables your guide to explain fascinating facts such as the traditional medicinal use of plants, or to understand more about the dramatic geology or interesting history of the area. Please note that children must be aged over 12 to participate in bush walks.

Hides – there are several hides situated at key sites across the Tuli reserve. You can spend time in these with your guide as part of a morning or afternoon drive, or if you prefer you can spend some time on your own at the hides with just your binoculars, some drinks and snacks for company. There is also the option of sleeping out at the hides overnight, subject to availability.

Horse rides – we can arrange for morning/afternoon or day rides with a well-established horseback safari operator based a few minutes from the lodge.

Community visit – an opportunity to visit the village of Motlabaneng. Our tour includes a visit to the school, a wine-tasting experience with a difference (at the lala-palm 'distillery') and a chance to see traditional basket-weaving, as well as the opportunity to see some of our community projects in action. Guests also have the option to visit the village of Lentswe-le-Moriti with its traditional culture house, where they can learn more about local customs, enjoy a traditional Setswana meal, see the 'kgotla' (court) and visit the local school. Community visits are normally in the afternoon and last approx. 2 hours. 50% of the community visit charge is allocated to our community fund.

After dinner drive – an optional extra if you are particularly keen to try and spot some nocturnal species.

Visit to the confluence – a morning trip across the Eastern section of the reserve to the confluence of the Shashe and Limpopo rivers, the unique and scenic spot where two great African rivers and three countries (Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe) meet. A picnic lunch is included.

Day trip to Molema - a day visit exploring the Western section of the reserve. En-route we pass sites of great historical, cultural and spiritual significance and the geologically fascinating Solomon's Wall. We also visit a wetland area (great for briding depending on the time of year) and dam (where enormous herds of elephants are know to drink). We arrive at Molema - our self-catering camp beautifully located on the banks of the Limpopo, ajoint venture project with the local community - in time for a leisurely picnic lunch and rest. We then take a slow game drive back, including the usual stop for sundowners.

Day trip to Mapungubwe with Mopane Bush Lodge - Includes return transfers from Pontdrift border post, a guided World Heritage Site tour to Mapungubwe Hill, a guided drive exploring the wildlife and scenery of the park (including the Confluence Site and Tree Top Walk), a packed lunch with refreshments and all entry/park fees. Your Tuli Guide will drop you off at Pont Drift Border at the border at 09h15 where you'll be met by Andrew Rae, of Mopane Bush Lodge, who will be sharing his extensive knowledge on Mapungubwe with you during the day, returning to Pont drift at 15h30 where you'll be met by your Tuli Guide and transferred back to Tuli Safari Lodge. Minimum 4 guests per tour. This tour is subject to availability and requires a minimum 24hr booking notice.

Deze activiteiten kunt u doen naast de al bestaande activiteiten die opgenomen zijn tijdens uw verblijf. Voor enkele van deze activiteiten worden kosten in rekening gebracht.
Inclusief bij uw verblijf bij Tuli lodge zijn 2 bush wandelingen met gids, maar op uw verzoek kunnen we een extra bushwandeling inplannen.

Observatiepunten, er zijn verschillende uitkijk punten waar u tijdens de gamedrive kunt stoppen. Hier kunt u tijd doorbrengen met een gids, maar ook alleen, uitgerust met verrekijker en wat hapjes en drankjes is dit een bijzondere ervaring. Onder voorbehoud van beschikbaarheid kunt u hier ook de nacht doorbrengen.

Paardrijden, we kunnen voor u ochtend of namiddag ritten organiseren bij een gevestigde safari ondernemer gespecialiseerd in paardrijdritten.

Een after-dinner game drive, een optionele safari voor degene die graag kennis maken met het nachtleven in de bush.

Bezoek aan de Samenvloeiing – een ochtendtrip naar het oostelijke gedeelte van het Nature Reserve waar de de rivieren Shashe en Limpopo samenvloeiing, een unieke en schilderachtige plek waar twee grote Afrikaanse rivieren en drie landen (Botswana, Zuid-Afrika en Zimbabwe) elkaar ontmoeten. Een picknick lunch is inbegrepen.

Dagtocht naar Molema - een dag waarin we het westelijke deel van de reserve gaan verkennen. Onderweg passeren we plaatsen met grote historische, culturele en spirituele betekenis en de fascinerende Solomons muur. Ook bezoeken we een wetland gebied en de dam, waar enorme kuddes olifanten regelmatig komen om hun dorst te lessen. We komen aan in Molema - ons self-catering camp prachtig gelegen aan de oevers van de Limpopo, een project wat opgezet is met de lokale Gemeenschap - op tijd voor een ontspannen picknick lunch. Vervolgens gaan we rustig aan terug, spotten wild en maken de gewoonlijk stops voor een sundowner.

Een dagtrip naar Mapungubwe in samenwerking met Mopane Bush lodge. Uw Tuli gids zal u naar de Pont Drift grenspost brengen waar u rond 9.15 opgehaald wordt door de gids van Mopane Bush lodge. Hij zal zijn kennis over Manpungubwe met uw delen, neemt u mee naar de samenvloeiing van de 2 rivieren, maakt boomtoppen wandeling met u en natuurlijk gaat u ook samen op zoek naar wildlife. Rond 15.30 gaat u vanaf de grenspost weer terug naar Tuli lodge. Een minimum van 4 gasten is vereist voor deze trip en de tour moet minimaal 24 uur van te voren geboekt worden.

Self-drive

Driving from Johannesburg guests should follow the N1 to Polokwane then the R521 to Alldays. At Alldays take a right turn signed to Pont Drift. Cars can be left at the Pont Drift border post, and the short transfer to the lodge is free of charge. If guests prefer to drive to the lodge, the lodge is approx 5km away and signed from the Botswana border post.

When the Limpopo River is flowing the river must be crossed by cable car (P35 per way - approx 3 people and their luggage can be carried on the cable car) and vehicles left at the border post.

Please always contact the lodge prior to travel in order to check on the status of the Limpopo River.

Road transfers can be arranged from Johannesburg, Polokwane, Gaborone or other locations. Please enquire for more information.

Air
Flights are available with Flying Mission from Gaborone to Tuli on Friday afternoons and from Tuli back to Gaborone on Sunday afternoons. Please see our Weekend Getaway package for more info - flights can also be booked separately if required. The flights are timed to coincide with arrivals/departures from Johannesburg & Maun to fit in with your itinerary.

SA Airlink operates several flights a day from OR Tambo Airport in Johannesburg to Polokwane (Pietersberg). Depending on your itinerary, you can then hire a car and drive to the lodge (approx 2 hours) or we can arrange for a transfer (approx. R1800 per vehicle one-way).

Charter flights to the Limpopo Valley Airfield, located 5 minutes from the lodge, can also be arranged. GPS coordinates: S22 11 21 E 290737. The runway is 1500m long and has a tarmac surface.

Border facilities
The closest border facilities for those arriving by road from South Africa are at Pont Drift, opening hours 08.00-16.00. Border facilities are also provided at the Limpopo Valley Airfield for those arriving by air. Please see http://www.botswanatourism.co.bw/getting_in/visas.html for information about visa requirements. There is a third party permit required for all foreign registered vehicles. The cost is P60.00 per vehicle and is payable at the border post.

Neem wel contact op met de lodge om te horen hoe de staat van de Limpopo rivier is, wanneer deze namelijk overstroomd is moet u tegen betaling gebruik maken van de kabelbaan, auto's blijven dan bij de grenspost.

Raadpleeg ons Weekend Getaway pakket voor meer info - vluchten kunnen ook afzonderlijk geboekt worden. De vluchten zijn zo gepland dat ze samenvallen met aankomst/vertrek van Johannesburg & Maun.

SA Airlink exploiteert verschillende vluchten per dag van OR Tambo Airport in Johannesburg naar Polokwane (Pietersberg). Afhankelijk van uw route, kunt u vervolgens een auto huren en rijden naar de lodge (circa 2 uur) of we kunnen zorgen voor een transfer.

Dichtst bij zijnde grens voorzieningen voor bezoekers uit Zuid-Afrika zijn in Pont Drift, openingstijden van 08.00-16.00 uur. Er zijn ook grensvoorzieningen op het vliegveld van Limpopo-vallei.

Climate
Summer - October to March – is hot with temperatures ranging from 20C at night to low 40s during the day. Winter – April to September – is moderate, with temperatures ranging from 10C in the early morning to mid 20s during the day.

Klimaat

What to wear
In Winter you'll need warm clothing for early morning and evening activities. In Summer hats & sun-block are essential. It's worth having some sturdy walking shoes with you. The dress code at the lodge is casual.
Wat te dragen

In de winter heeft u warme kleding nodig voor de vroege ochtend en de avond. In de zomer zijn hoeden en een goede zonnecrème essentieel. Het is goed om stevige wandelschoenen mee te nemen voor wandelsafari's. Het kleding advies voor de lodge is casual.

Malaria
Tuli is officially in a low risk malaria area. Due to above average rainfall in Botswana this year, malaria may be more prevalent than usual. Please consult your doctor about appropriate malaria prophylactics. It is always sensible to use insect repellent and wear long-sleeved tops and trousers in the early morning and evening. Mosquito repellent coils and spray are provided. All beds at Tuli Safari Lodge have mosquito nets. There are no mosquito nets provided at Tuli Bush Camps (Nokalodi and Molema).

Malaria
Tuli Lodge is tot nu toe in een laag malaria risico gebied, iets wat kan veranderen door de toenemende regenval in dit gedeelte van Botswana. Wij adviseren u dan ook contact op te nemen met uw huisarts of plaatselijke GGD voor eventuele malaria medicatie. Daarnaast is het altijd raadzaam om een goede anti muggen crème of lotion te gebruiken en in de ochtend en avond lange broeken en shirts met lange mouwen te dragen. Alle bedden zijn voorzien van muskieten netten, met uitzondering van die in de Tuli Bush Camps (Nokalodi en Molema)

Children
All children are welcome at Tuli Safari Lodge and Tuli Bush Camps under strict adult supervision. Children under the age of 2 will be at no charge when sharing with two adults, those aged 2-12 will pay 60% of the adult rate (at Tuli Safari Lodge this is 60% of the 4 ele sharing rate). Children under 12 may not participate in bush walks. If parents would like children under the age of 12 to participate in game drives, please advise the lodge in advance as it may be necessary to arrange an exclusive vehicle for which there may be a charge depending on how busy the lodge is. Babysitters are available at a rate of P30 per hour. Children's meals can be made available on request. Kids@Tuli activity packs are available at the lodge to help children get the most out of their time at Tuli and to help keep them occupied! The P15pp entrance fee at Molema applies to all guests including each child regardless of their age.

Kinderen
Kinderen van alle leeftijden zijn welkom in de Tuli lodge en in de bush camps, maar alleen onder supervisie van een volwassene. Kinderen onder de 2 verblijven gratis op de kamer van 2 volwassenen. Kinderen tussen de 2 en 12 betalen 60% van de volwassenprijs. Kinderen onder de 12 zijn niet toegelaten op de bush wandelingen. Als ouders hun kinderen van onder 12 mee willen nemen op gamedrive laat het ons dan van te voren weten omdat een aanpassing voor vervoer misschien noodzakelijk is (hiervoor wordt soms een toeslag gevraagd). Tegen vergoeding kunt u gebruik maken van een babysitter. Kinder maaltijden worden op aanvraag verzorgd. Om de kinderen bezig te houden zijn er Kids@Tuli pakketten aanwezig. Een entree fee bij Molema geld voor alle gasten ongeacht hun leeftijd.


Laundry
Laundry is available at Tuli Safari Lodge at a nominal charge of P40 for up to 10 items. Laundry can be arranged at Nokalodi for an additional charge.

Wasserij
Er is tegen vergoeding een wasserij service aanwezig voor gasten van de Tuli lodge en Nokalodi.
